Richard Lawrence Chadwick, 79, of Kalapana died at Hilo Medical Center on April 7. Born in Denver, Colo., he was a retired communications manager with United Airlines. Friends may call at the Chadwick residence in Kalapana Shores West on Saturday, April 13; memorial service at 12 p.m. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Donna K. Chadwick of Kalapana; daughter, Kate Chadwick of Dunsmuir, Calif.; sons, Daren (Janinne) Chadwick of Ben Lomod, Calif., and Damon Mayo (Erin) Chadwick of San Francisco, Calif.; four grandchildren and one cousin. Thomas Dias Jr., 71, of Keaau, formerly of Waimanalo, Oahu, and Kauai, died April 6 at home. Born in Aiea, Oahu, he was a retired truck driver, chef and member of St. George Catholic Church in Waimanalo. Friends may call 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo; memorial Mass at 10:30. Casual attire. Leis welcome. Elaine “Yuri” Yuriko Okutsu, 89, of Hilo died April 5 at a care home in Hilo. Born in Hilo, she was retired from Y. Hata & Co. and Albers Milling Co. and a member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and Buddhist Women’s Association. Private services held. No koden (monetary gifts). No flowers. Survived by sons, Wayne Okutsu, Randal (Marla) Okutsu, both of Hilo; sisters, Samie Goya of Hilo, Helen Nakaoka of Kaneohe, Oahu; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
